Reflexology by Catherine M

The gift of wellbeing……….

Sometimes in life, we just need to stop and give our mind and body a well-deserved break.

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the ancient art of touch therapy on the soles of the hands or feet, whereby the therapist uses their hands, fingers and knuckles to apply pressure to the feet or hands, using a specialised massage technique. It is based on the ancient theory that different points on the feet and legs correspond to different areas on the body. By working through the feet you treat the whole body creating a sense of wellbeing and calm, by realigning the natural flow of Qi (life's energy).

5,000 years ago and it has also been discovered in Egyptian tomb artwork. The modern form of reflexology that is mainly practised today was developed by Eunice D.Ingham in the 1930’s.

By applying pressure to the designated areas in the feet or hands, you are able to relieve congestion caused by stress or illness. Reflexology can help with a range of conditions such as headaches, stress, premenstrual syndrome, fertility and is now starting to be used within the field of oncology to help those living with cancer. Reflexology is an alternative therapy and cannot cure a condition, only aid the body in balancing itself and finding harmony.

About Me

I am Catherine and I am a qualified reflexologist and holistic therapist, teacher and member of the federation of holistic therapists (FHT). I have worked in the hair and beauty industry for over 20 years and have a teaching qualification, which enabled me to teach in leading colleges for over 10 years. I have trained in baby and toddler reflexology and massage with Baby Reflexage (leading method for baby and toddler reflexology and massage), where I teach new parents a unique routine to use on their own babies or toddlers.

I have also trained in women's health reflexology and can provide additional techniques that can help with fertility, pregnancy symptoms, postnatal recovery and menopause.

Alongside reflexology I also offer a range of holistic therapies, from full body holistic massage that incorporates Indonesian techniques and a mastery qualification in stone medicine to becoming a Gua Sha facial specialist.

As a busy mum of two children I was struggling with my own wellbeing and realised that after having my second child that I needed to stop and take care of my physical and mental health. This was when I was first introduced to holistic therapies. I became fascinated with the body's ability to self heal. Since then I have become passionate about how alternative therapies can help the body and mind and work alongside modern medicine. I have a small comfortable studio at my home, which creates a relaxing environment to unwind and relax. I travel to clients that that are unable to travel (reduced mobility), severe anxiety and additional needs (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

Holistic Therapies

I offer a range of unique holistic therapies that all work along the same principles of my reflexology and follow zone therapy that works on the belief that the body is divided into 10 longitudinal zones of energy that extend from the feet and hands to the brain.

By working on these zones through massage and facials it can aid the body to realign and release stagnant Qi (energy).

I offer a range of therapies from Holistic massage that incorporates Indonesian techniques, Thermal ear candling with lymphatic massage, sculpting facials with Gua Sha and facial cupping to help treat Bells Palsy and migraines.
